As you can see right now, this page is a continuing project.  However, I have many ideas in mind and this page should be evolutionary.  I started this page to get some of the tracks that I have created up on a website so that the many fans of RCT could share my rides.  So, keep checking this site for MANY changes and updates!

 NEWS!!

July 27th, 2001 -   (Salem, New Hampshire-AP) -- Four men and a boy received minor injuries today after one roller-coaster rear-ended another at a New Hampshire amusement park. A Canobie Lake Park spokesman says one coaster was starting up the 55-foot-high first hill as the second train entered the loading platform. The second train was supposed to stop and unload, but it didn't. Instead, it continued up the hill and collided with the other train, about halfway up the hill. The spokesman says the first train was traveling between one and two miles per hour -- the second train a little faster. All of the injured were in the second train                      Source - Associated Press

This one is old news but here it is anyway.   July 23rd, 2001 - Safety inspectors are in Branson, Missouri today trying to find out what  caused an accident at an amusement park over the weekend.  Brake failure (I hate when that happens) may have caused one set of cars on the Firestorm roller coaster to rear-end another set of stopped cars at Branson U-S-A. Seven people suffered minor injuries Saturday night in the incident.  Officials say one of the trains was coming to the end of the ride when it's brakes apparently failed. It bumped the stopped car and jostled passengers as they exited the cars.  The park's manager says the ride will remain closed until a satisfactory explanation for the accident is found.

July 22nd, 2001 - The RIDES section is now open! And we have just added two coasters and a coaster track pack to kick off the grand opening of that sections so go check them out!  Also I have added three new submitted parks to the PARKS section. Also the new site of the week is Tycoon Resource.  We've also added a NEW poll.  Besure to vote!

July 13th, 2001 - WARNING!!  If you have downloaded tumblewood.zip from the parks page, DO NOT OPEN IT!  There apparently a virus in the .zip file somewhere.  If you have opened it please run your anti-virus software immediately.  I usually catch these before I post the files, however after our systems crash we neglected to update the virus scan.  I can assure you that the problem is fixed and we will guarantee no more virus files will hide themselves in any parks that we offer.

July 12th, 2001 -First off I really must apologize to those of you who have sent parks and haven't seen them posted yet.  I know that I promised you that I would have everything up by the end of  last weekend.  Well, I had a MAJOR systems failure which resulted in a couple of reformats and well, thank goodness for system back-ups.  Anyhow, the PARKS page has been updated and I am in the middle of preparing to kick off the RIDES page so if you have sent rides to me in the last week or two just be patient I am getting to them.

June 30th, 2001 (11:00am CDT) - I've added two new parks to the PARKS page. BIG thanks go out to Robert Smith and Thewetwillysk8er@aol.com for their submissions.  I still have 3 more to add so if I haven't gotten to yours yet, be patient, I'll get to them before the end of the weekend!  We also have had a ride submitted so the RIDES page will be launched very soon.  Keep checking back!

June 30th, 2001 - Well, as you may have noticed, there haven't been any updates as of recent.  Due, to a systems crash (namely my RCT game files were corrupted and for several panic sticken days I was trying to repair them, alas they are back up and running) I was unable to upload any thing to the site.  However, we are up and running again today. Those who have e-mailed me or submitted items, please be patient, I will have them posted and a response to you sometime this weekend.

June 20th, 2001 - (Eureka, Missouri) -- A New Yorker has spent 50 days riding a roller coaster in Eureka, Missouri.  And he's still got 50 more days to go.  Richard Rodriguez is trying to break the world record for most consecutive days on a roller coaster during operating hours. Richard Rodriguez is sunburned and windburned. He's been rained on and endured both record high and low temperatures.  But he's still riding a wooden roller coaster at Six Flags St. Louis known as "The Boss." He gets to take five-minute breaks, but rides the coaster while the park is open each day. If he continues through August tenth, he will have broken the world record.     Source - Associated Press

June 17th, 2001 - A new park, submitted by Talor was added to the Parks page.  That makes four for him.  Please send in your parks, rides, or screenshots.  Send submissions to rctmania@prodigy.net.

June 15th, 2001 - Haven't had an update in a few days, but 3 new parks have been added to our site.  Also, every Friday the staff of RCT Mania! pick a site to feature as our "Link of the Week" and this weeks link is RCT Station.

June 14th, 2000 - (Bristol, Connecticut) -- More thrills than they expected for customers at a Connecticut amusement park.  More than two dozen people had to be rescued by firefighters with ladders when a roller coaster got stuck on its track today at a theme park in Bristol. This, a day after a maintenance worker was killed when a different ride hit him while he was trimming weeds and brush. Today's incident happened aboard the Zoomerang roller coaster. A park official says the coaster got stuck on a relatively level area of track. He says there are no reports of injuries and no word on what caused the problem.     Source - Associated Press

June 9, 2001 - If you've tried to mail in your parks pr ride files and got a message that your e-mail has been returned, I've fixed that problem.  I had a spelling error in the mail link.  It's taken care of now so you can try sending them again.  Sorry for the trouble.

June 8, 2001 - One hundred and five residents of Great Britian are in the US touring roller coasters.   The tour started out on Wednesday at Six Flags Darien Lakes.   Members of the Great Britian Coaster Tour Club buckeled themselves in for a ride of a lifetime.  The first stop on their "2001 A Coaster Odyssey" trip was the manmouth coaster The Erasor.  The tour lasts until June 20th.  The group will have traveled over five thousand miles for the exclusive purpose of riding tours.

June 7, 2001 - We are now taking submissions for our Parks and Rides sections.  If you have a park or ride that you would like to see added to this site, please send files zipped to rctmania@prodigy.net.  For more info, see our downloads section.

UPDATE!
June 6, 2001 - RCT Mania has been updated.  After some time off from the site, I have revamped some of the pages and developed an sort of "new look". I've also added a counter to track the visitors.

May 4, 2001 - Bruehl, Germany- Investigators think that a coaster fire at a German amusement park was probably caused by a short curcuit in some electrical wiring.  The fire , which occured on Tuesday had passengers scaling down ladders and injured 63 people at one of Europe's largest amusement parks.  The roller coaster was about 20 years old, but the electrical systems had been replaced this past winter.

May 3, 2001 - Richard Rodriguez, a self-proclaimed amusement park adventurer who holds 14 world records for marathon coaster rinding is at it again today.  Rodriguez plans to spend the next 100 days trying to break one of those records by spending 11 hours a day on a coaster at the Six Flags in St Loois, Mo.  He will ride starting today and continuing until August 10th on the rollercoaster, "The Boss", a ride he calls, "Kind of like my Mt. Everest".  Rodriguez fits the rides car with foam padding to ease the jostling and a kidney belt and thigh pads protect his body.  It's a technique that he has devised from his previous experience.   Under roller coaster marathon rules, Rodriguez will get five minutes of rest every hour which he can use to eat or use the restroom.  The 39 year old will stay in touch with relatives via a cell phone.

April 11, 2001 - What's been dubbed "the most explosive coaster on the planet " is now roaring through Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey. Nitro is the tallest and fastest coaster in the East, soaring 230 feet into the sky at nearly 80 mph, over more than a mile of track.

Thousands turned out for Nitro's Grand Opening on Wednesday, April 11th, including the WWF's own "Mankind," a self-described coaster enthusiast. A mass of riders who camped outside the theme park, anticipating Nitro's arrival, braved chilly days and nearly freezing temperatures at night. These die-hards spent most of the past week competing for front row seats on the opening run.

Nitro is the largest of 12 roller coasters to call Six Flags Great Adventure home. It shares the theme park with roller coasters Medusa, Batman & Robin: The Chiller, Batman the Ride, Great American Scream Machine, Skull Mountain, Viper, Rolling Thunder, Runaway Train, Stuntman's Freefall, Road Runner Railway and Blackbeard's Train and 59 other rides.
